Coco - my new kitten - has been with us for five days and I'm amused at how much this little kitten entertains my life, by simply being a six-week-old kitten. Our plan for the weekend was to go out, maybe to OC fair, but we spent the entire weekend chillaxing at home, playing with Coco.
Yesterday, despite it being a Saturday, I woke up early around 7 am, dropped off Coco at the vet for flea bath (poor little thing was full of fleas when we brought him home), and went to pick up some groceries to make breakfast.
After breakfast, picking up Coco and eating leftover pizza from last night for lunch, we were trying to make Coco and Peanut bond with each other and noticed blasting music from outside. It seemed some kind of event was going on at the metro station parking lot behind our apartment and we decided to check it out. We headed towards where both the music and many people were coming from and saw that it was a car show. We ended up not going, though - didn't want to pay $12 to look at some fixed up civics - and ended up at Japanese festival a block away. Grabbed some shaved ice - god, I miss Hawaiian shaved ice, the real Hawaiian shaved ice! - and checked out Japanese American History Museum for little bit for free.
I loved that we could just hop, skip, and jump to the random, spontaneous things our neighborhood offered. I've been loving living in downtown LA - or Little Tokyo to be exact. There are starbucks, yogurtland, pinkberry, Korean market, Urth Caffe, the famous Daikokuya, a Japanese bakery with best macarons, cute little boutique shops, and endless list of Japanese restaurants. And our random afternoon adventure increased my love for the neighborhood even more.
Today, we stuffed ourselves with dim sum in Monterey Park and played more with Coco and Peanut - mostly with coco, because Peanut is being moody about having a unexpected little brother - and then took a nap.
I was just reading Eat, Pray, Love before my short afternoon nap and I thought, "the weather is very nice this weekend and so is our weekend in at home." I often find myself envying people who see happiness in little details of their lives because I believed I was not capable of doing so. But I think something about this weekend made me see my lazy weekend differently, and I'm happy that I did.
I find happiness in eating big brunch with Junior, watching my cats run around the house and coco using the litter box for the first time since he came to our home (i sound like a crazy cat lady, don't I? haha), reading a book lying on my comfortable couch and falling asleep on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I feel blessed to find happiness in my simple yet beautiful weekend.
This weekend felt nice, it felt just.. perfect.
